Let's talk

WooCommerce SEO

Harness WordPress's flexibility — without the classic WooCommerce traps.

WooCommerce gives you WordPress's full flexibility, but with that freedom comes the responsibility for a healthy technical foundation. As a Danish SEO specialist I optimise your WooCommerce store from category and product pages to speed and structured data, so you get the full benefit of the platform's potential.

01

Category and product architecture

I structure product categories, attributes and filters so they make sense to both the user and Google — without creating thin or duplicate pages.

02

Speed and technical health

WooCommerce can get heavy with too many plugins. I optimise load times, Core Web Vitals and database health so the store is fast and crawlable.

03

Structured data and plugins

I set up Product, Offer and Review schema correctly and choose the SEO plugins (e.g. Yoast or Rank Math) that fit your store — configured right from the start.

WooCommerce gives you WordPress's full flexibility — and with it, full responsibility for a healthy foundation. Freedom to do anything also means freedom to do it wrong. With too many plugins, a heavy theme setup and an unmanaged category and attribute structure, many WooCommerce stores end up slow and hard to crawl.

I optimise your store from the ground up: a logical category and attribute architecture, fast load times and correct structured data. At the same time, I make sure your SEO plugin — whether Yoast or Rank Math — is set up to work for you rather than just take up space.

Plugin pruning is often the fastest place to unlock value. A typical WooCommerce store has 25-45 plugins installed, and a surprisingly large share are redundant, unused or actively conflicting. I audit each plugin: what does it cost in performance, what does it give back, and can the functionality be covered by something lighter or moved into theme code? Cutting from 40 to 15 plugins can halve the site's load time.

The category and attribute structure is WooCommerce's biggest SEO weakness without governance. The default setup creates dozens of parameter URLs per attribute (colour, size, material), which Google indexes as separate pages. Without correct canonical and robots handling, the important category pages drown in noise. I build a clear structure: which attributes are indexable landing pages, which are pure filters, and how it's communicated to crawlers.

Speed is a direct ranking factor on WooCommerce, and the database is often the culprit. With hundreds of products, thousands of orders and revisions, transient caches and old plugin tables, your wp_options table or wp_postmeta can easily grow to hundreds of MB — slowing every query. I review and clean the database, set up object caching and configure a sensible page cache layer.

Structured data on WooCommerce often lags because Yoast/Rank Math only ships basic schema. Product, Offer, Review, Brand and Breadcrumb schema need to be complete and validate cleanly if you want rich results in the SERP. I review each template and supplement with custom schema where the plugin doesn't deliver — so you get star ratings, prices and stock status directly in the search result.

Finally, I work with long-term durability. WooCommerce is notorious for 'stalling' after a couple of years of accumulated debt: outdated plugins, unused themes, broken redirects and old checkout flows. I set up an ongoing maintenance plan so the SEO foundation stays healthy over time — because the best SEO strategy is worthless if the foundation decays in six months.

The WooCommerce SEO foundation
  • Plugin pruning (typically 25–45 → 12–18)
  • Object caching + sensible page cache layer
  • Product/Offer/Review schema with custom code where plugins fail
  • Attribute architecture: what's indexable, what's a filter?
  • Database cleanup (wp_options, transients, revisions)
  • Yoast or Rank Math configured without default errors
The plugin mindset changes everything

A healthy WooCommerce store isn't the one with the most plugins — it's the one with the fewest. Every plugin is JavaScript, database queries and a potential conflict. Rule: if theme code can cover the feature, the plugin goes.
